Baby cocoons

Although here on green carpet we support baby-wearing in a sling and just simple carrying in arms a lot, there are times when we also want to put our baby to sleep in bed or have a ride in a car.
What comes in very handy is baby cocoon.
My little princess spent a lot of her first autumn and winter day sleeping and car travels in this lovely cocoon. No need to dress her much for travel. No problems with a blanket that falls off when you put the baby in bed after cradling her in your arms. And no kicked off blankets.

Of course, this lovely piece with a hat is knitted by my own loving hands.

I enjoyed using it so much, that I also made this warming present when my cousins baby boy was born.









I have my fingers itching already to make another one for one of my best friends when her little one arrives!

Crafts for men I - knitted neck warmer

Time to go public with some crafts again! I made this very cosy neck warmer for my brother as a Christmas gift accompanied with some home made chocolate bars, truffles and my super specialty this year- chilly jello = shopping free holidays.
But back to the crafts:

This kind of neck warmer is good for everyone but especially great for kids and those who like to play actively in the snow since it fits snugly and doesn't become loose during activities like regular scarf. 

Crafts for Baby III- knitted Cardigan and booties

One more little piece to share on green carpet- knitted Cardigan and knee high booties made for my princess from Merino wool + Silk with a little silk ribbon for ties. Cardigan is done quite long to cover little bum as well since we experience long and cold winters here. She has already grown out of booties, but the cardigan will fit till the end of the winter. So I'll just have to make new booties now a size bigger. Enjoy knitting on green carpet!!!

Crafts for Baby II- knitted Christmas sweater

One of the things I love about hand-crafts on green carpet- you can make anything any size and any style you want. Since winter is coming along, it's the time my little one tries on her Christmas sweater. I love these patterns and it's warm from not dyed baby alpaca wool. Another thing I love about it- it fits both a girl and a boy, so if my little girl will have a brother some time after a while.. he'll love this warm, soft piece too :)

A note to myself- in future post my works before the little princess has started to wear them..
It looks much better on the baby rather than just flat on the surface. But I'm one of those moms who thinks that this little soul is so sacred that it is not yet ready to be shared with the whole world in pictures. That time will come too.. but- in a while!

Winter evening warm gifts :)

As I said- it has been pretty busy here on green carpet!
Winter evenings (oh yes, it is still winter) is the very best time for some crafts. For example- knitting.
One of my best friends has a birthday this week, so lately I have spent my evenings with 5 double pointed knitting needles, patterns and natural yarns. Nothing compares to hand made gift in my opinion. It is the greenest one you can give to anyone :)

And finally - here is the creation! She will need them next year to visit me in the very cold Latvian winter :)
